Media meet medallists at athletes village

The Team South Africa organisers held a media update this morning at the athlete's village in Algiers. Chef de Mission Hajira Kajee gave a medal count update - South Africa's still lying second behind Algeria - after which she 'deputised' swimming champion Natalie du Toit to lead everyone present in singing Happy Birthday to Nelson Mandela, who turned 89 today.

The other occasion was to bade farewell to the swimming team who is returning home tomorrow. Besides them, most members of Team South Africa who had won medals up to now were present, and some were interviewed by the SABC crew that was on hand.
